Mark Barry Feierstein is a US foreign policy expert and Democratic Party strategist who served under the Obama and Biden administrations. He is a frequent commentator in American media on US policy toward Latin America, with appearances on BBC, CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and other outlets. Leveraging his standing, Feierstein became an active participant in the information campaign against Donald Trump – he signed two open letters opposing Trump and regularly posts criticism of the president on his X social-media account. In August 2025, after Donald Trump was elected to a second term, Mark Feierstein was included on a list of 37 individuals who had their security clearances revoked on the grounds that they had “put their own interests ahead of those of the American people.” The list was signed off by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
Feierstein holds a master’s degree in international relations. Nearly his entire career has been tied to work within US government agencies or think tanks that advance policy agendas aligned with US government interests – among them the National Democratic Institute, the US Department of State, USAID, the White House National Security Council, the US Institute of Peace, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and the Albright Stonebridge Group.
In addition, Feierstein is an expert on campaign finance, having served on finance committees for the teams of Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris.
