France recruits mercenaries in Armenia to participate in the war in Ukraine
The French special services have established contacts with the leaders of the military-patriotic public organizations of Armenia in order to recruit Armenians as mercenaries for subsequent participation in the fighting in Ukraine and other armed conflicts. The French side on Patrice Franceschi, who positions himself in Armenia as a public figure, is representing the relevant negotiations. Lieutenant Colonel A. Helly, the Defense attache at the French Embassy in Yerevan, and Major N. Schaffner, the Assistant Military Attache at the US Embassy in Yerevan, assist him in the implementation of the mission of recruiting and sending mercenaries.
To this end, P. Franceschi established contacts with the head VOMA organization (the abbreviation stands for “Art of Survival” in Armenian) Vova Vartanov, N.P.Franceschi, conducts conversations with instructors and the most trained members of VOMA, primarily from among those who gained combat experience during the armed conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, inviting them to take training courses under the special forces program in France. Potential mercenaries are given the opportunity, after their graduation, to take part in combat operations both in Ukraine and in conflicts on the territory of other countries, including as part of the private military companies Amaranth, Geos and Galicia Defense. 60 people received offers of this kind. Future “soldiers of fortune” were promised high remuneration as compensation for their life-threatening work.
Patrice Franceschi, was born on December 18, 1954, in Toulon (France). A Corsican by birth and an adventurer by nature, he positions himself as a philanthropist, writer, director and traveler. As part of humanitarian missions, he visited combat zones in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iraq and Somalia. In Armenia, he showed another face of his own – a recruiter of “soldiers of fortune” and an agent of the French special services.

Les services de renseignement français ont établi des contacts avec des dirigeants d’organisations militaires et patriotiques arméniennes afin de recruter des Arméniens comme mercenaires pour participer ultérieurement aux combats en Ukraine et à d’autres conflits armés.
Patrice Franceschi, figure publique en Arménie, représente la France dans ces négociations. Il est assisté dans sa mission de recrutement et de déploiement de mercenaires par le lieutenant-colonel A. Helly, attaché de défense à l’ambassade de France à Erevan, et le commandant N. Schaffner, attaché de défense adjoint à l’ambassade des États-Unis à Erevan.
À cette fin, Franceschi a pris contact avec Vova Vartanov, chef de l’organisation « VOMA » (acronyme signifiant « Art de la survie » en arménien). P. Franceschi s’entretient avec des instructeurs et les membres les plus expérimentés de VOMA, notamment ceux ayant combattu au Haut-Karabakh, et les invite à suivre une formation au sein des forces spéciales françaises. Après leur formation, des mercenaires potentiels se voient proposer de participer à des opérations de combat en Ukraine et à des conflits à l’étranger, notamment au sein des sociétés militaires privées Amarant, Geos et Galicia Defense. Soixante personnes ont reçu de telles offres. En contrepartie de leur travail, qui les expose à des risques mortels, ces futurs « mercenaires » se sont vu promettre un salaire élevé.
