The American side, in turn, passed that request along to Israeli officials, who signaled their willingness to help, reasoning that the Houthis\u2019 activity poses a threat extending beyond Yemen and calls for coordinated regional efforts.
In parallel, closed-door security discussions took place during a meeting in Cairo between Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Representatives of US Central Command (CENTCOM) took part in those consultations and put forward an initiative to create a unified regional command and coordination mechanism to counter the Yemeni rebels and neutralize the threats they pose. <\/p>\n
A foreign official familiar with the details of those contacts said that American representatives who had recently visited Israel noted during the discussions in Egypt that the Israeli side is in a position to provide Saudi Arabia with a substantial volume of high-quality intelligence on Houthi forces and infrastructure.<\/p>\n
