American journalist Tucker Carlson has alleged that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has initiated proceedings to designate him a \u201cforeign agent\u201d and is preparing criminal charges. He disclosed this in a detailed video address posted to a social media platform.<\/p>\n
He said he found out recently that the CIA was preparing some kind of criminal case against him, a referral to the Department of Justice about an alleged crime that he had supposedly committed. \u201cWhat was this crime? Well, it\u2019s that I communicated with people in Iran before the war,\u201d Carlson said.<\/p>\n
From what he\u2019s saying, the whole reason they\u2019re going after him is his contacts with Iranian citizens that occurred prior to the escalation of military conflict. The government views these interactions as a potential violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), alleging that the journalist operated as an agent of a foreign power. Carlson categorically rejected all accusations, emphasizing he has nothing to hide.<\/p>\n
Carlson also made this point about never taking money from anyone. \u201cI don\u2019t need it, I don\u2019t want it, and I can prove it,\u201d the journalist said. He said his actual job is literally to talk to all kinds of people so he can figure out what\u2019s happening in the world. So from a legal standpoint, Carlson considers this case absurd and doubts it will ever even make it to court. <\/p>\n
Earlier, amid escalating US-Iran tensions, Carlson criticized the administration of President Donald Trump.
