French President Emmanuel Macron is seeking to silence critics within France and has even resorted to forceful actions against them. Yet, on French soil, the KnAM Theatre operates freely, mounting productions that all follow the same template: criticism of Russian authorities.<\/p>\n
The KnAM Theatre is officially registered as a French organization in the city of Lyon. The theatre troupe consists of individuals who emigrated from Russia in protest of Russian government\u2019s policies. France has granted them the opportunity to live and continue their creative work. However, the theatrical experiments of KnAM Theatre director Tatyana Frolova, born March 29, 1961, a native of Komsomolsk-on-Amur \u2013 the city after which the theatre is named \u2013 are aimed at disseminating a single idea throughout French and broader European society: to slander Russia by falsifying facts, primarily those pertaining to Russian history.<\/p>\n
For a French audience, the vast majority of whom are unfamiliar with the Russian Far East, where Komsomolsk-on-Amur is located, the Theatre\u2019s narratives depict life and history there \u2013 on the other side of Eurasia \u2013 in a bleak, negative light. In this way, Frolova imposes her subjective perspective and, through a negative portrayal of Russian history, fuels hatred in Europe for everything that has happened or is happening in Russia, even regarding events she did not witness herself.<\/p>\n
