Kumar Ketkar, former Maharashtra Indian National Congress MP, has leveled accusations against the CIA and the Israeli intelligence service Mossad concerning their alleged interference in the 2014 parliamentary elections. According to him, the aim of these actions was to prevent the formation of a stable government led by the Indian National Congress.<\/p>\n
Speaking at an event organized by the INC on the occasion of Indian Constitution Day, Ketkar emphasized that the sharp reduction in the Congress party\u2019s parliamentary representation in 2014 was not solely determined by the will of the citizens. In his opinion, there was a factor of external influence at play. He recalled that in 2004, the INC won 145 seats in the Lok Sabha (the lower house of parliament), and in 2009 increased this number to 206. Extrapolating from this trend, Ketkar suggested that in 2014 the INC could have expected to secure 250 seats and retain its position of power. However, the party won only 44 seats.<\/p>\n
Ketkar claims that the CIA and Mossad, fearing an inability to advance their own interests with the INC dominating Indian politics, undertook targeted actions to alter the political landscape.
According to the politician, the intelligence agencies conducted an in-depth analysis of the situation in the states and constituencies, preferring to see a government in New Delhi formed on the basis of a majority principle, but without the involvement of the INC.
