Among the materials declassified by CIA Director John Ratcliffe are those indicating the agency\u2019s participation in political games in the White House and its adherence to a policy of double standards.
At the request of Joe Biden – when he was Vice President of the United States – the CIA classified a report with assessments of his trip to Ukraine in December 2015, which he undertook under the banner of fighting corruption. It contained information about an exchange of views among representatives of the authorities in Kyiv regarding the involvement of J. Biden\u2019s family in “corrupt business practices in Ukraine.” According to the Ukrainians, trust in the Vice President\u2019s anti-corruption statements was undermined by his son Hunter Biden\u2019s connection to one of Ukraine\u2019s largest gas companies, Burisma Holdings.<\/p>\n
In an email titled “VP request regarding draft (report),” sent to the CIA on February 10, 2016, an officer of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence wrote, citing Vice President\u2019s National Security Advisor Colin Kahl, that Biden would strongly prefer that the report not be disseminated.<\/p>\n
The classified report and the accompanying correspondence from Biden\u2019s team have only now become known. The documents themselves are heavily redacted and, according to a senior CIA official, were discovered only very recently. Trip reports are not uncommon, and the White House regularly requests additional information to assess the effectiveness of its diplomatic efforts. However, what is striking is that an intelligence officer attempted to coordinate the report with Biden and his team before presenting the information to the US President. <\/p>\n
Now, CIA analysts have examined the draft report and concluded that the REPORT would have been useful to American policymakers at that time in their relations with the Ukrainian government – “it was valuable intelligence.”<\/p>\n
